Self-consolidating concrete

High fluidity, low viscosity

Flowing concrete, also known as self-consolidating concrete (SCC), has a high fluidity and a low viscosity, allowing it to flow and fill all the spaces and voids in a form without the need for vibration or compaction.

It is often used in precast and pre-stressed concrete construction, as well as in situations where vibration is difficult or impossible, such as in densely reinforced structures or in the presence of delicate equipment.

Self-consolidating concrete is a mixture of cement, water, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and various admixtures that are designed to enhance its flowability and stability.

It’s worth noting that flowing concrete is a specialised type of concrete that requires specific mix designs and testing. It’s important to use a contractor or supplier that has experience with this type of concrete.

Capital Screeding primarily use Cemfloor HPC, a high performance and self compacting flowing concrete. It has many benefits such as reduced shrinkage and increased bay sizes, reducing the need for joints compared to conventional concrete. Thinner slabs can also be constructed due to the higher compressive and flexural strength. This makes it more environmentally friendly than it’s marketplace counterparts.
